[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Amazon-speed delivery but for SMBs? It might sound too good to be true but it’s real! With Tyltgo, small and medium-size businesses can have a delivery service that rivals the biggest companies in the world.

Founded out of a University of Waterloo dorm room, backed by Y Combinator, and fresh off a $2.3 million seed round, Tyltgo is prepped to be the go-to service for businesses looking to stay ahead of the pack.

The white-label, same-day delivery service elevates your customer experience while alleviating the internal worry about getting your product from point A to point B.

“The biggest gap we fill is the delivery experience,” said Tyltgo CEO and co-founder, Jaden Pereira. “So many delivery companies only focus on getting retailers’ goods to their customers: organizing the drivers, the logistics, etc. We do all that, but also provide retailers the ability to offer a turnkey plug-in for their website that’s branded and seamless for its users.”

For now, the company remains focused on expanding its offering across Ontario, but Tyltgo is on its way to transforming the way small businesses do delivery forever.

For this week’s Startup Spotlight, Bay Street Bull spoke with CEO and Co-Founder of Tyltgo Jaden Pereira about filling a gap in the delivery market and uplifting small businesses through technology.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”Q&A” color=”custom” style=”dashed” border_width=”3″ accent_color=”#0e245b”][vc_column_text]What is Tyltgo?

Tyltgo provides merchants with white-label, same-day delivery and the ability to customize their post-purchase delivery experience through custom messaging and branding. This allows our customers to focus less on delivery logistics, and more on their core business. Tyltgo handles everything from providing branded delivery technology for our merchants’ websites to getting the drivers to deliver their goods to their customers, on time and at the best rates.

How was Tyltgo formed?

I actually started Tyltgo in a dorm room! I noticed that a lot of my friends at the University of Waterloo didn’t have cars, but wanted to pick up groceries, late-night snacks, and other necessities from local retailers and restaurants. So I became their official delivery guy. And that’s how Tyltgo was born!

But as I came to learn more about the lack of affordable quality delivery options for local retailers, I decided to pivot the business and focus on the delivery experience for retailers. I wanted to make software that would better their customers’ post-purchase delivery experience and give the retailers reliable and affordable same-day delivery so they could reach more people. And that’s how today’s version of Tyltgo was born!

How does Tyltgo fill a gap in the delivery market?

The biggest gap we fill is the delivery experience. So many delivery companies only focus on getting retailers’ goods to their customers: organizing the drivers, the logistics, etc. We do all that, but also provide retailers the ability to offer a turnkey plug-in for their website that’s branded and seamless for its users. So the customer doesn’t have to go to a separate website to order. This is a huge boost to retailers because it allows them to reach more people and develop a closer relationship with their current customers by offering delivery. Yet the retailer doesn’t have to deal with the delivery experience and can focus on creating awesome products!

Were there any challenges in bringing Tyltgo to life? If so, how did you overcome them?

Like any startup, we had our fair share of challenges. But the biggest one was at the beginning. I was a 20-year-old student with little credibility showing up to meetings with retailers and investors in a beat-up 2003 Malibu—not exactly someone you want to trust with your money.

The only way I got through this was with a ton of persistence and practice. I just kept showing up and getting better. I would constantly practice my customer pitches in the mirror. I felt ridiculous, but as I got more and more confident every meeting, I started to see results: I finally started landing some big deals.

This helped my team and I get accepted into Y Combinator, which was a huge boost to our company. Without them, I don’t think I’d be talking to you right now!

What has the response been like from Tyltgo users?

Really great. We have the most amazing customers. It’s so cool to work with upstarts like ourselves. As we grow our reach across Ontario, we get to help our customers bring their products to more people.

A good example of this is our work with General Assembly Pizza. During the pandemic, they pioneered the world’s first pizza subscription. Without Tyltgo, it would have been hard for them to bring the subscription to people outside Toronto, where they’re based. But working together, we’ve been able to bring their subscription to pizza lovers across Southwestern Ontario!

We know how lucky we are to still be in business during COVID-19. We feel so fortunate that we can help other retailers stay afloat and grow during this time through the power of quality delivery.

What has been Tyltgo’s biggest milestone achievement to date?

Definitely our seed round! We raised a $2.3 mil CAD seed round recently and it was a huge milestone. This means that we can work with 100 more retailers, expand operations across Ontario and double our team size—all by the end of 2021. This is huge for us!

Why should a company use Tyltgo?

If you want to reach more customers and provide the best delivery experience but don’t want the hassle, then you should use Tyltgo.

What is the company’s overall mission?

Tyltgo aims to help local economies thrive through technology. We do that by empowering SMBs and enterprises to have the same delivery power as big businesses like Amazon.

Where do you hope to see the company in five, 10 years?

Tyltgo will be part of every post-purchase delivery experience for all retail trade categories and delivery types.
