Last night, Toronto came together to fete The Symes, a venue of a calibre the city has never before seen in the trendy North Junction neighbourhood. The grand opening featured notable guests that included CBC’s Dwight Drummond, Sportsnet’s Brendan Dunlop, MPP Monte Kwinter and Ann Pirvu, from the hit Canadian series, Reign.

Operated by Viviana Kohon, Namita Tandon-Walsh and Caitie Yue, The Symes is housed in a historic building on Symes Road that has been “re-envisioned for the 21st century” after it lay abandoned for more than 20 years.

With over 9,500 square meters of space, the Art Deco venue is sure to be a favourite among Torontonians of every stripe. Over 1000 guests came out to celebrate the evening, which also served as a showcase of The Symes’ catering partners.

Cannolis with pistachio and chocolate fillings from Le Dolci and a burger grilled to perfection by Food Dudes won the night which also featured offers from The Drake, Toben, Citizen Catering and Daniel et Daniel.
