Two titans of industry, Nike and Tiffany & Co., have teamed up to create a luxurious take on the iconic Nike Air Force 1 sneaker—a collaboration that undoubtedly will have both sneakerheads and jewelry lovers clamouring for the limited release. The collaboration is a unique blend of sportswear and high-end jewelry, featuring the legendary Air Force 1 silhouette made of Tiffany Blue leather and a sterling silver Swoosh logo. The shoebox, which resembles the iconic blue jewelry boxes of Tiffany & Co., adds a touch of elegance to the otherwise sporty sneakers. While the release date of the coveted collaboration is set for March 7, Canadians will have to make their way south of the border if they want to nab a pair of the luxurious kicks. The collection will be available at Tiffany’s two NYC flagships, select Nike retailers, and on the Nike SNKRS app.
The latest collaboration is an interesting move on Tiffany & Co.’s part as the heritage luxury jeweler continues to redefine its voice and brand. Along with recent collaborations with Supreme, Patek Philippe, and Fendi (as well as a mega-watt partnership with Jay-Z and Beyoncé), the American brand has made strides in positoning itself as a younger, “hip” brand sharply tuned into the cultural zeitgeist of today’s affluent Millennial and Gen-Z shopper.
The collaboration also comes with a few baubles. Tiffany & Co. is no stranger to making high-end novelty items and this collection is no exception. The accompanying accessories range, made of the brand’s signature sterling silver, includes a Tiffany & Co. whistle on a ball chain, co-branded shoe cleaning brush, dubrae for the Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 1837 laces, and a shoehorn that could easily double as an artistic objet. Whether or not consumers actually use the accessories for their intended purpose and function or as a prized collectible remains to be seen but we’re putting our money on the latter. (Prices for the accessories collection will range from $250 USD to $475 USD.)
