Fashion that keeps up with a fast life.

The new Michael Kors flagship is sleek. Touches of brushed stainless steel, and dark oak wood-style finishes adorn the walls and floor of the renovated store where the brand houses its first dedicated men’s space in Toronto. More than just a store, it is a testament to who the Michael Kors customer is.

Walking into the revamped space at Yorkdale Shopping Centre is to understand the evolved Kors brand aesthetic. Supple leather accessories are placed atop Calacatta marble plinths—and back-lit boots, stilettos and sneakers line the walls facing plush seating.

Discrete sections house a range of Michael Kors product lines, including footwear,Michael Kors Collection, and Michael Kors Mens label, which occupies the entire back room of the store.

The evolution of the Michael Kors aesthetic is not restricted to retail architecture. As the designer behind his namesake company, Kors was inspired in his early days by a jet set lifestyle where personalities were photographed on a yacht in Capri one day and then walking down the street in New York the next.

“Today, we all live a fast life—it’s not just the rich and famous anymore,” Kors says. “We’re all running from one thing to the next, whether you’re taking the bus or plane, and we all need clothes and accessories that allow us to do that while still looking and feeling great.”

Kors has shown menswear on his runway as early as 2002, but of recent he has found men, who used to live their days in suits, are looking for a sense of polish “without all the stuffing.”

Across from the refined men’s holdalls and leather accessories are quality versatile pieces including red tartan pants and shearling-lined jackets for the professional on the go—and sure to make a splash on Instagram. “The men of Toronto will appreciate the everyday urban essentials and polished places that they find in our store.”

A fan of Toronto’s cosmopolitan multicultural spirit, Kors believes every Toronto man needs a polished statement coat to carry through the winter—and a pair of aviators, of course.
