The event celebrated the unique needs of today’s small business owners by bringing them together for an evening of networking.

A panel including Fred VanVleet, professional basketball player and founder of FVV Shop, restaurateur Grant van Gameren, the man behind many of your favourite Toronto establishments, and Taylor Frankel, co-founder of the beauty brand Nudestix, shared their entrepreneurial experiences and philosophies with small business owners at the exclusive launch.

Lucky for us, we had the chance to sit down with Frankel to get the inside scoop on what it takes to be a young entrepreneur and some of the lessons she learned early on. [/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”14440″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]“I learned the importance of investing time in networking with fellow entrepreneurs,” said Frankel, now 22, who co-founded the immensely successful and influential make-up brand with her sister, Ally and their mother when she was 17. “I wish I knew how much sacrifice it took to be an entrepreneur. It’s a 24/7 job and means sacrificing my personal life.”[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”“You can’t take time off… the brand you create is you.”” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:32|text_align:left|color:%230b6bbf” google_fonts=”font_family:Cardo%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700|font_style:400%20italic%3A400%3Aitalic” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]Frankel now works as both co-founder and Chief Inspiration Officer. She was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug when she recognized a void in the market. Frankel saw the need for multi-purpose beauty products that could be used by everyday women on the go or when they were short on time. So she, her sister Ally and their mom created Nudestix.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]“I was grateful to have a strong support system from my fellow co-founders – my mom and sister and my family,” Frankel said. “Also growing up with entrepreneurial parents, [building a business] was second nature. I didn’t think about the risk…I was just so passionate.”

Amex’s new Card will help budding entrepreneurs earn important rewards on everyday purchases. “As a small business owner I know how important it is to have backing to help me succeed,” Frankel added.

The new American Express Business Edge Card offers choice, convenience, and flexibility to the modern entrepreneur – freedoms that are crucial as they look to create successful companies. The Card allows business owners to earn rewards on purchases they already make: 3X the points on eligible eats and drinks, rides and gas, and office supplies and electronics.

It makes life easier for those who spend 24/7 running their own business. Amex’s new Card champions small business owners and their innovative entrepreneurial endeavours.
