The 13th annual Thrill of Ascot took place on Saturday, June 1st.

This year, the Thrill of Ascot, Best Buddies’ yearly homage to Royal Ascot, raised a record $650,000 for Best Buddies Canada — an organisation that hopes to create lasting connections between people with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities —  which raises the total the organisation has raised over a 25 year period to $26 million. The Thrill of Ascot has raised $3.6 million since inception.

Among the notable names that came out in support of Best Buddies included Glen Baxter, Best Buddies Co-founder Daniel J. Greenglass and Rene Pantalone, Kim Newport Mimran and Sarah Rafferty to name a few.

“This simple idea of one on one friendships for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities has literally changed the lives of almost 200,000 Canadians! Our benevolent patrons have been very generous in sharing our passion for Best Buddies Canada. We are thrilled to be celebrating 25 years in Canada! Without the support of our generous donors, volunteers, our incredible Best Buddies team and our dedicated Co-Founder, Daniel J. Greenglass, we would not be able to support our 500 Chapters across Canada with programs of leaders, and inclusion.” said Pantalone, who was an event co-chair.
