The chrome robot is a sculpture by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.
Toronto is one of only three cities in North America (and the only Canadian city) to be visited by the muses of Dior Men’s pre-fall collection, Hajime Sorayama’s signature feminine robots.
These sculptures are replicas of the artist’s 5-meter tall creation for the pre-fall men’s runway show in Tokyo last November, and are displayed next to futuristic pop-up shops carrying the pre-fall collection. Designed with the collection in mind, the pods feature brushed metallic, chrome and mirrored surfaces.
The experience is housed at Holt Renfrew‘s Yorkdale Shopping Centre location. The collection features cherry blossom motifs, images of Sorayama’s robots, and a retro-futuristic reinvention of the Dior logo by Sorayama.
Alongside the now-iconic revived Dior saddle bag silhouette, the collection also features other accessories and ready-to-wear items. Other than Toronto, versions of the pop-up stores will make their Washington, D.C, and Costa Mesa, California this month.
The Toronto Dior Men pop-up is open at Holt Renfew Yorkdale until May 31.Â
