A roaring success for the kids at camp.

On a warm Spring afternoon in May Cactus Club Cafe invited some of Camp Ooch‘s closest friends to enjoy a multi-course tasting menu courtesy of Cactus Club chefs Cory Vitiello and Rob Feenie at the restaurant’s Rooftop Deck overlooking Adelaide Street in Downtown Toronto. Camp Oochigeas is a privately funded camp for children affected by childhood cancer that works with families in Ontario.

Seats for the noble cause sold out days before the event, and for their part, Cactus Club promised to donate 100 percent of the events’ proceeds to Camp Ooch directly, and overtake all of the costs including space, food and drink. The night of the event, every guest was given a commemorative lanyard to wear around their neck — a reference to the badge-collecting medallions the children wear at Ooch to flaunt their newly learned skills and experiences.

For Chefs on Deck, Feenie and Vitiello delighted the benefactors with a taste from each of Toronto’s most beloved restaurants: Rob Rossi of Giulietta, Rob Gentile of Buca, Brandon Olsen of La Banane, Alida Solomon of Tutti Matti, and The Cheese Boutique’s cheese master Afrim Pristine.
