Think back on your last great meal. Or perhaps your all-time favourite food memory. What about it made it so memorable? Chances are, it wasn’t just the food that was on your plate, but all the fixings around it — the company, the conversation, the ambience, the music, the overall setting. A truly great culinary experience is defined by a myriad of ingredients that make it stick out from the rest. This notion is something that American Express Canada owns, given their track record of providing Cardmembers with exclusive access to premium one-of-a-kind experiences and events. It is in this spirit that Amex Canada unveiled an upgraded American Express Platinum Card in Canada on Wednesday, February 13, with the help of one supermodel friend, Coca Rocha, and a handful of majestic geodesic domes. Upgraded benefits include 3x points on dining, 2x points on travel and 1x point on everything else. Cardmembers will also receive a $200 Annual Travel Credit and 50,000 Welcome Bonus Points, among many other benefits. Undoubtedly one of Canada’s biggest fashion experts, Rocha can be considered an arbiter of culinary taste given the globe-trotting nature of her job. It’s what makes her the perfect ambassador for Amex’s new ‘Dinner With A View’ sponsorship, providing a unique dining experience that will surely induct itself into your own personal hall of fame of unforgettable food moments. “[I like] the idea of providing a unique opportunity to create a memory. I think that’s what this is all about,” said Rocha, dressed in a bright pink fur coat (perhaps to offset the evening’s chilly temperatures). “Ambience and experience, to me, are very intriguing. This is just one example of the type of premium experiences Amex offers to Cardmembers.” Nestled under the concrete arches of Toronto’s The Bentway, guests dined in luxurious geodesic terrariums that transported them into a space resembling one of Earth’s various terroirs, like moss-covered tundras and lush tropical settings. Top Chef Canada winner, Chef René Rodriguez, further enhanced the experience with a three-course meal that utilized local ingredients, paired alongside a selection of wines and cocktails. “[Tonight was] genius. It’s always great to look back at these moments and say, ‘Wow, that was such an experience,’” said Rocha. “I know I’m going to be talking about it. I was dining in a tiny beautifully designed dome in Toronto. It was freezing outside, but I was warm inside!” From March 28 to May 2, 2019, the ‘Dinner With A View’ dining series will be in Toronto and from April 16 to May 18, 2019 in Montreal. Tickets are currently available via exclusive pre-sale purchase to Amex Cardmembers at www.dinnerwithaview.ca. Tickets go on sale to the general public February 19.
